Des Moines Arts Festival and Co-Sponsor Prairie Meadows invite Polk County-based non-profit organizations to participate in the 2008 Des Moines Arts Festival. Applications to participate in the 2009 Des Moines Arts Festival on June 26-28 will be available online in February. The following organizations participated in the 2008 Prairie Meadows Non-Profit Program at the Des Moines Arts Festival: Animal Rescue League of Iowa
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa's mission is to promote animal welfare, to encourage and strengthen the human/animal bond and to prevent the overpopulation of pets. Arts Activity: Make cat, rabbit and dog masks, construct a rainbow fish or fish nametag, and learn to draw a dog’s face. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Blank Park Zoo The mission of the Blank Park Zoo is to inspire an appreciation of the natural world through conservation, education and recreation. The Zoo manages 49 acres of land and cares for over 1,500 animal specimens. Arts Activity: It’s the Year of the Frog at Blank Park Zoo so stop here to create a frog pouch. Brenton Skating Plaza The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines
